Swedish research (Den onda cirkeln by Bo Zetterqvist) shows that cleanings costs make up 86% of the Life Cycle Cost of a floor covering. The breakdown of costs over the Life Cycle of a floor covering is as follows:

International research has found that more than 75% of dirt in a building is walked-in. Considerable savings in cleaning costs can be achieved.

The Norwegian study ‘Frisk pust i skolen’ (Clean air in schools) has shown that Protect Super Clean-Off-Zone very effectively reduces walked-in dirt and water. The research was commissioned by the educational authorities. Eight schools were involved in the trials and a number of different entrance matting options were compared. Prior to the trials levels of dust on the vinyl floor varied between 10 and 25%. The installation of a Protect Super Clean-Off-Zone reduced dust levels on the floor to 4%.
